Why commission an art piece?
An artwork commission is a personalized experience that is different for everyone. It is both an investment and an heirloom that is uniquely your own vision translated through the skills and experience of an artist. It is a way to embellish life and your environment with precious images of sentimental value instead of just stuff. A commissioned piece can memorialize a loved one no longer with us, or forever capture a cherished moment in time. It is an exclusive item created only for you, or a distinctive original gift for someone special.
How do I commission an art piece?
Commission process in 8 easy steps:
1. Find your Artist.
Many Artists provide commission services, and some artists work in different mediums, however the individual style of the artist usually shows through across all mediums. Find the artist who’s work speaks to you and select that Artist. There are many amazing artists out there, not all of them or for you, you will know by the feeling you get when looking at their work.
If that artist is me, then I’m thrilled to work with you.
2. Select your size:
I recommend you select the size that fits both your budget and where you wish to display the piece. Although custom sizes are available, I suggest you consider one of these which will fit into a standard sized frame:
Small – 8 x 10 inches $400
Medium – 11 x 14 inches $540
Large – 16 x 20 inches $790
3. Contact the artist: [email protected]
Please reach out to me to explore this process further, I love new and returning clients alike. Please mention if you have any specific deadlines or special occasions you are hoping to have the piece finished by. I usually have a waiting list but can confirm the approximate time frame at the time of enquiry and will do my best to adjust my schedule to accommodate special occasions and fixed dates.
If my delivery timing meets your needs, then I will request photographs. If you are in the Algoma region then you may consider my Platinum Experience.
Platinum Experience.
For an additional $150 I will photography your family member or fur-baby along with the family. From these reference photos the preferred pose can be decided, and a package of high-resolution professional photographs will be delivered electronically. Essentially accomplishing professional family photos and a commissioned piece.

4. Confirm your spot
When you are confident with the painting direction and you are ready to place an order then payment can be made via PayPal using most credit cards or by etransfer, which ever works best for you. Once payment is received, I will send you a confirmation email with the estimated completion date and outline all the details of project that were discussed.
Included with your purchase:
- Recommendations in choosing the perfect reference photo
- Guaranteed archival, professional grade, highest quality materials will be used in the making of your artwork
- Certificate of authenticity
- Artwork care guide
- Final piece will be matted with a neutral complimentary colour that is sized to accommodate a ready- made frame.
5. Finalize your Subject
I work in a realistic style and therefore the quality of the photograph makes a difference in respect to the detail and final likeness of the final piece. A clear photograph that captures the likeness, colour accuracy and character or personality of your loved one or fur-baby is key. I will work with you to select the best reference photo for a final piece.
6. Progress and Final Approval
I will notify you when I begin the piece and share work in progress pictures for you to engage in the development. Once I have completed the painting I will send a picture of the piece for final approval. At this stage I can accommodate small changes or adjustments prior matting.
Mounting and Matting
Your piece will come mounted and matted with 100% acid free mountboard. The mat opening will be cut at a 45 degree angle to compliment your picture and the outer dimensions will match standard North American frame sizes. I always recommend a professional framer, however having a standard size keeps the framing costs reasonable.
7. Delivery
Upon full satisfaction of the finished piece, you will then be invoiced for the delivery of your portrait. Delivery can take 3 to 5 working days depending on the country for delivery via a tracked and secured courier, usually UPS. I will provide you with a tracking number once the artwork has been scheduled for delivery.

8. Love to hear from you
One of the reasons I love doing commissions is the client testimonials and seeing the pictures of my artwork in their homes. When you have safely received your painting, why not send me a picture, or share your thoughts on the experience and or the final piece by dropping a not in my email.
Expand the experience.
I always take high-resolution photographs of the final artwork, which can be turned into Artist quality prints or giclées, of any size. A grand way to give the original as a gift and still retain the copy of the original, or to use on greeting cards or other stationary.
