Bison of the Sault

This bull bison grazes in a field on route to my favourite grocery store.  Bison are not as domesticated as cows and will retreat when humans approach, or if threatened charge. Standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 2000 pounds I'm no match for a charge.  This bull was very defiant as approached with my lens,  he would move his head to track my movements.  Which resulted in him giving me this hairy eyeball look.   This bison compelled me to paint him due to the numerous different textures in his wool.  Although the animal is essentially brown,  the wool on the animal is very diverse.  The hump kissed with some light was very warm with ochre undertones while the shadows projected violets and purples.  I tried to capture this in this rendering.
